Our John Innes Compost Range is based on the traditional
formula, updated for the twenty-first century to ensure the product is light carry and
cost effective but still performs exceptionally well. Our John Innes range is made from
loam and peat blended with grit (or in the case of our John Innes Seed & Cutting mix
with sand). Each product within the range is individually balanced with added fertiliser,
calibrated to ensure that the performance meets the requirements of the product.

Our John Innes Seed & Cutting compost needs no
introduction and is designed to do exactly what the name suggests. The loam, peat and sand
mix provides an ideal substrate for seed growth and cuttings to root, and the added
nutrients are sufficient to promote initial growth without damaging sensitive plants.

Use our John Innes No1 compost for small plants that
are ready to be potted for the first time and when pricking out seedlings. The addition of
grit rather than sand improves drainage and the added nutrient load is designed to promote
the next stage of growth.

Our John Innes No2 compost is ideal for re-potting
house plants and partly established flower and vegetable plants. The additional plant
nutrients provided in the compost promote growth over a longer period.

Use our John Innes No3 compost for
re-potting of mature plants in containers and baskets, and for large established house
plants. The high added nutrient load is unsuitable for young or sensitive plants, but in
robust and mature plants provides continued growth over a sustained period. With our John
Innes No3 compost re-potting of patio plants will be required less often compared to other
composts.
